Founding Engineer (London)

We are an AI-driven hospitality tech platform helping vacation rental owners automate their revenue on Booking.com.

Unlike most "early-stage" startups, we are already at £200k ARR, growing month-on-month and have investment from angels. We have a product customers love, a validated business model, and we are now preparing to expand to Airbnb and Expedia.

We are a small team looking for a second founding engineer. You will work directly with us to brainstorm ideas, shape architecture, and ship code quickly.

Flexible Hybrid Full-Time Second founding engineer

The Role

Build the product and the data engine.

This is a full-stack role with a backend-heavy split. You will spend most of your time in Python, Django, React, and Tailwind.

We have interesting technical challenges involving high-volume data, browser automation, MCP, and AI-assisted workflows.

Scale the Backend

Build and ship features using Python, Django, and Postgres.

High-Volume Scraping

Manage enterprise-level scraping, browser automation, and reverse-engineering of public data sources.

Chrome Extension

Maintain and expand the extension that connects our platform with customer accounts.

Ship Fast

Use Claude Code and Codex heavily so the team can focus on the complex logic and customer problems.

The Logistics

London-based, high-ownership, flexible hybrid.

  • Both founders are in London. We'd like to meet at a WeWork coworking space to brainstorm and speed up onboarding in person, ideally twice per week, with flexibility.
  • Salary: £70k - £90k, depending on experience.
  • Equity: 0.5% - 2.0% options, with 4-year vesting.

Who You Are

A builder who wants the real problem.

A Builder

You have startup experience as a founder or early employee, and care about solving problems, not just writing code.

Python Expert

You have deep experience with Python and can move comfortably across backend systems.

Data Scraper

You understand web scraping, proxies, browser automation, and the trade-offs that come with public data sources.

Pragmatic

You know when to build for scale and when to ship a "hacky" fix that unblocks a customer.

AI-Native

You must ship code with Claude Code or Codex frontier models. If you do not use them already, this is not the role for you.

Autonomous

You want direct responsibility. You dislike micromanagement and enjoy taking a ticket from "idea" to "deployed."

Interview process

No leetcode. Real product conversations.

  1. 1 15 to 30 minute non-technical call with Martin.
  2. 2 1 hour technical pair-programming challenge with the founding engineer. No leetcode, just real product problems.
  3. 3 Meet in person with both founders.
  4. 4 Offer.
